COLLEGE SWEETHEARTS TO PARTNERS FOR LIFE

Milie & Shubham’s Royal Rajasthani Wedding and its mesmerising shots by Knotting Bells

Illuminating the ‘larger than life - big fat Indian wedding’ in its truest sense, Milie & Shubham’s royal Rajasthani wedding was an extravagant affair filled with magnificence and grandeur. “Shubham and I had drastically different views for our wedding destination. While he wanted an international location, I wanted an Indian royal palace for a big fat traditional wedding. The Pandemic supported me in disguise, as the restrictions came into place and Shubham was left with no option but to go with my choice.” The duo finally decided on the wedding nuptials to be held at Suryagarh, a magnificent palace in Jaisalmer with a five day event filled with glamour and an elaborate celebration.

“We first met at a college fest where Shubham was choreographing a fashion show I was a part of. He was my senior and that's how we were in touch and eventually became good friends. The rest is history” says Milie. After dating for 3-4 years, the couple decided to make their relationship official. Bursting in excitement, all family members and friends began to plan the most important days of the couple’s life. “I always wanted a grand Rajasthani wedding packed with extraordinary events and Suryagarh was the perfect location. There were so many people involved in the planning process and if I were to be honest, there were a lot of challenges too but after 8 months, we finally worked out a wedding that turned out to be the most gorgeous event ever.” explains Milie.

Spread over 5 days, the couple’s wedding kickstarted with a welcome dinner for all their guests including a spectacular performance by musicians - Bryden and Parth - turning a mellow evening into a party night. Celebrating traditions in a heartwarming manner, the second day started with a mehendi ceremony followed by a power-packed sangeet ceremony in the evening with none other than the energetic - Guru Randhawa’s live performance. To add more glamour to the sangeet, Milie entered with an unforgettable 3D mapping on her gown adding to the list of unconventional bridal wear.

The third day was all about having a blast with a haldi ceremony followed by the most royal celebration of the wedding - the Baraat and Pheras. “Milie and Shubham’s wedding was an epitome of a new and unconventional Indian wedding. They are such a beautiful couple. So much in love and always smiling. It was absolutely heartwarming to shoot them and even more so against the magnificent backdrop of Suryagarh palace. A lot of shots were spontaneous and candid and they have turned out to be really really special.” says Shrey Bhagat, co-founder of Knotting Bells.

Weddings do get stressful but Mile and Shubham came up with the perfect plan to keep things a little light. “Both Shubham and I made sure to keep the spark alive throughout the wedding with small gestures and gifts. Each day we personally gave each other wedding hampers including a food item, one cocktail shot and a gift which we could wear along with a dare/challenge we had to perform. The challenge I lay on Shubham for the first day was to spontaneously perform a dance on ‘Oh Oh Jaane Jaana’ and I think it gave us some hilarious memories,” shares Milie.

The couple made sure the decor was exceptional and extraordinary, translating perfectly with the sea of emotions they were all experiencing. The Baraat and Pheras were the highlight of the event and felt like a movie sequence with professional dancers, an elevated mandap and one of the most interesting bride and groom entries. Not to forget, The Varmala entry which had the most glorious sequence with dancers who choreographed and enacted the entire ‘Radha Krishna’ story orchestrating a breathtaking entry for the couple.

With that, this royal and larger than life Rajashtani wedding came to an end giving us and all guests one of the most unforgettable moments of a true royal big fat Indian Wedding.
