Combining these with astute business acumen, Rashida Pavthiwala has carved a niche in the competitive beauty industry in seven years. Today, Rashida’s makeup and hair styling studio stands as a telling proof of her formidable reputation, earned over years of work with celebrities and the industry’s top models. But this wouldn’t have got an edge without her stint in institutions of global repute. Born in Kolkata, she chose the same city for early studies. But it was also where her nascent career broke free. Designing garments, she forayed into block printing and smartly set up a versatile network of tailors and embroiders. Rashida’s eyes were now set on learning global trends. The London School of Makeup beckoned, and she completed a course there in Photography and Media Makeup. Heading to Paris and Dubai, she fine-tuned her craft. Fame came calling when she assisted a Hollywood Editorial Shoot in London. Then came the high point: Getting selected for the reputed London Fashion Week. Inking deals with brands like Lifestyle, Reliance and Streax, Rashida stamped her emphatic arrival. But even as her career took an upward swing, she held her family bonds strong as ever. The young girl who bravely ventured out to an uncharted territory called ‘beauty’ at the age of 18, is today a mother of two, well-entrenched in the family business. Perfecting the nuances of bridal makeup for all traditions and cultures, Rashida knew exactly how to take the business to the next level. She joined the family firm of wedding trousseau, boosting retail sales for imported laces, all from home
