Indian weddings are evolving and have seen drastic changes from then to now, Indian weddings are now bold and more expressive. Couples are participating in each and every event right from dancing to holding hands to kissing everything now is filled with lots of emotions. New trends and customs are introduced, but yes sticking to the roots of the Indian culture is what Indians are also very famous for! Earlier things weren’t expressive and both brides and grooms were very shy and would even never had eye contacts, arrange marriages were the trend at that time as the bride and groom would never have met each other before. Now! Love is in the air and love marriages are the new trend, many people will not believe in arranged marriages in today’s era.

No More Shy Brides

There was a time when brides were really very shy and would even didn’t have the audacity to look at the groom or any family member near them, all the events were performed with a slight smile or sometimes no smile. Even emotions were held back in front of the camera!

Now, yes things are changed no more shy brides, couples are very expressive and pose for every little moment. Brides are bold and expressive now, where they actively participate in all the events and click numerous pictures, brides are now termed as the center of attraction!

Grand Weddings is the New Trend

Earlier all the events were cut short as the wedding would be just for a day or 2 days event, it was just a simple family gathering were just your loved ones and groom’s family would be present. Simplicity was believed and even implemented in the 90’s era!

Now, the Indian weddings are huge with 500 guests (this is minimum), all the events are celebrated grandly with at least 5 to 7 days of wedding plans. Sangeet, Mehendi, cocktail party, engagement, Haldi everything now is just larger than life. Dances are choreographed, grand entries are planned and couples are preferring destination wedding the most!

Themes are Exclusive

There was a time when having a simple wedding was a big deal. The weddings were planned at a small venue with simple decor, no themes, just taking the 7 vows and exchanging garlands and the wedding was done, earlier weddings were planned by the groom’s family or bride’s family members only!

Now, monogram theme, floral theme, Bollywood theme, Punjabi theme, Maharashtrian theme, Woah! There are many themes and the list could go on..., people are experimenting with new themes and decors which would look so mesmerizing, now from head to toe, everything is planned by wedding planners or event management team!

Yum Food

So, earlier food in any Indian wedding would just be traditional Indian food, simple yet tasty. With just limited food items but all the guests would be happy with the food and the catering service!

Now, there would be a big counter just for food, Chinese, continental, Italian, fast food, live chat counters, you can ask for any cuisine and it would be ready to serve. Appetizers, soups, salads and welcome drinks are also served at the very beginning of the wedding!

No More Reds

There was a time when only wearing a red lehenga or gown was the signature colour for the brides, no other colour was allowed, with heavy embroidery and radiant jewellery and the brides would look simply beautiful with such outfits!

Now, brides are experimenting with colours like blue, gold, pink, peach, these are the colours which brides are opting now with just simple embroidery on the lehenga or even a saree. Even you can notice the changes in the length and width of the lehenga from then to now!
